and Change Someone's Life
Haven is always seeking caring
people to perform community service, primarily for
hospice. Our volunteers are key member of the Haven
team that helps adults and children deal with illness,
grief, and loss. If you are interested, write volunteer@havenhealth.org.

Patient
and Family Support
Volunteers support
patients and families in many ways.
Their presence can be extremely comforting,
even if the volunteer only sits quietly in
the room. Volunteers often read to patients,
talk about the patient’s life, listen
to music, play games, assist in letter writing,
take the patient for a walk in their wheelchair
or suggest other activities they could share.
This time together allows the family much-needed
respite for their appointments or other activities
that they need to do out of the house. |
Office
and Clerical Support
Volunteers can assist
in a variety of ways in the Signal Hill office
if they would like to help the hospice effort,
but don't choose to work with patients. |
Community
Information And Outreach
This give volunteers
a chance to represent hospice at health fairs,
community events, senior centers, and many
other functions. This creates a chance to
educate the community about home health care
and hospice, alleviate fears, and eliminate
myths. |
